The objective of the E-Z-Cut® hob is to provide swift removal of metal prior to a finishing operation for gears module 6.35 (DP 4) or coarser. In the hobbing process about two-thirds of the metal removal is done by the upper portion of the hob teeth. E-Z-Cut® hobs have specialized flutes that provide more cutting edges at the tips of the hob teeth. These additional cutting faces allow for higher feed rates, reduced machine strain, reduced number of cuts, shorter cycle times, and increased tool life.”Feed rates are increased 43 to 185%.
