The Probe Adapters 876.x serve to convert the dose rate value measured by the 6150AD or a probe to various analog and digital outputs. This allows to process the 6150AD's measurements by devices requiring an interface different from the 6150AD's serial RS232.

The following features are common to all models:

RS485 interface: Up to 32 Probe Adapters can be connected to and evaluated by a central computer via an RS485 bus (2-wire). In such cases the cable length can be up to 1000 m. Using one (or several) repeaters, even greater distances can be spanned, and up to 99 devices can be connected.

Averaging and Storage: The Probe Adapter averages and saves the dose rates of the received measurements. The averaging period can be programmed through commands on the RS485 bus. The Probe Adapter can store 1000 averages and additionally saves the maximum value and the time of occurence. It is also possible to set an alarm threshold. The averaging period changes (shortens) to another programmable value when the alarm threshold is exceeded.

Pulse output: The Probe Adapter generates a pulse frequency which is proportional to the dose rate. This pulse frequency is dead time compensated and can be directly passed on to a counting device for further processing. A pulse frequency of 100 kHz corresponds to the full scale of the respective detector's dose rate range.
Analog output: The analog outputs of the various models have different features, see below.
Power supply 6 to 16 VDC.
Aluminium housing, dimensions 100 x 65 x 35 mm³.

Probe Adapter 876.1
This Probe Adapter is out of production. It has been replaced by model 876.3.

Probe Adapter 876.2
This Probe Adapter connects to a 6150AD through the Connecting Cable EB84-0193 (not included in the delivery) thereby recording the 6150AD's measurements. This connecting cable offers the option to additionally connect a probe of the 6150AD family through a standard probe cable. Then the Probe Adapter records the probe's measurements.

Two analog outputs: logarithmic 0 to 1 Volt for the dose rate value plus a range identifier (µSv/h, mSv/h, Sv/h). These analog outputs match the inputs of the 2-Line-Mini-Recorder L120E-2 for the Scintomat 6134A(/H).

Probe Adapter 876.3
Like 876.2, however does not connect to a 6150AD, but, through a standard probe cable, to any probe of the 6150AD probe family. The 6150AD itself is not required, therefore the reading has to be visualised externally using the Probe Adapter's outputs.

Note: Probe Adapters 876.3 with a software release prior to 2013 do not support the probes 6150AD-t(/H,/E) and 6150AD-k.

Probe Adapter 876.4
Like 876.3, however with a different analog output:

Analog output: 4 to 20 mA, logarithmic:
Probe 6150AD-15(/H,/E): 4 to 20 mA for 0.1 mSv/h to 10 Sv/h
Probe 6150AD-18(/H,/E): 4 to 20 mA for 0.01 µSv/h to 10 mSv/h
Probe 6150AD-t(/H,/E) low range tube: 4 to 20 mA for 0.01 µSv/h to 10 mSv/h
Probe 6150AD-t(/H,/E) high range tube: 4 to 20 mA for 0.1 mSv/h to 10 Sv/h
Probe 6150AD-b(/H,/E): 4 to 20 mA for 1 nSv/h to 100 µSv/h
Probe 6150AD-17: 4 to 20 mA for 0.01 s-1 to 10k s-1
Probe group AD-0, e.g. 6150AD-k: 4 to 20 mA for 0.1 s-1 to 1000k s-1
The output drops to zero if no probe is connected.

Note: Probe Adapters 876.4 with a software release prior to 2013 only support the probes 6150AD-15(/H,/E) and 6150AD-18(/H,/E).
